Most Armies and police organizations the world over rely on trained military psychologists with adequate operational experience and competence to cater to the problems , needs and concerns of their personnel, besides providing opportunities for personal and professional growth, and facilitating individuals to actualize their potential. The concept of Flying psychologist and Barefoot counselling evolves from an increasing need and limited availability of trained, qualified and experienced psychologists.
This 30 days Psychology Internship is the brainchild for implementation of Lt. Col. Dr Samir Rawat’s Flying Psychologists program to maintain psychological well-being of Military, Police & Para Military Force (PMF) Personnel and their families. The objective of Services provided by MILITARY INTELLECTUAL & NORMATIVE DEVELOPMENT (MIND) Academy is to give psychological assistance to all uniformed personnel in order to mentally prepare them for taking on the demanding challenges and responsibilities that they are entrusted with at work. It also prepares them individually and as a cohesive team for mental conditioning and resilience building to deal with any eventualities in their line of duty.
Psychological well-being of uniformed personnel is a crucial and important factor for success in performing duty as well as in ensuring good health and happiness. To ensure individual performance in the service, it takes effort to maintain this psychological well-being which is focus on important dimensions like Self acceptance, positive relations with others, autonomy, environmental mastery, purpose in life, professional and personal growth. Flying Psychologists as a part of command function of personnel management attempts to reach uniformed personnel of military, police & PMF units even in the remotest areas in the country. Some of the major activities in this program include: Organisational and Personal development training (Group dynamics and team building, Stress Optimization, Anger Management, Effective Habit/Time Management, Communication Skills, Hypnoparenting, Guidance for Military Training Preparation, Optimum Use of Brain, Harmonious Family and Work–Life Balance, Relationship Enrichment), Counselling and Mentoring for military, police & PMF personnel, their spouse and children. Specific programs are being structured and customized for institutions and formations/units based on inputs from the client/after carrying out a Training Needs Analysis.
Flying Psychologist is an appropriate method for maintaining and ensuring the psychological wellbeing of the military, police & PMF personnel. We attempt to reach out to units and sub units located all over the country, but not all locations need continuous major psychological service depending on the need. This program is considered very effective and efficient because we can arrange to visit our destination based on individual and organizational needs. Through this program, we can provide psychological assistance to military, police & PMF personnel and their families who are located anywhere in the country or even deployed on a mission abroad. Through this month long intensive internship program, you will be trained and provided the requisite core competencies to cater to facilitating uniformed personnel resolve their problems, need and concerns.
If you have a Master’s degree in Psychology/Counselling and would like to seek opportunities for working with a special population – The Armed Forces need you, provided you are committed & willing to sacrifice your ‘comfort zone’ and lend a ‘listening ear’. Those pursuing graduation with Psychology/Counselling may be considered based on interview and commitment.

Venue – Pune/Bangalore with limited residential options for out station students on first come registration basis.
